Here’s why they’ll be the MVP of your snack table:
- Unmistakable Team Spirit: Dressed in the official Green Bay Packers colors, these pretzels are a vibrant edible tribute to your favorite team.
- Irresistible Flavor Profile: The classic salty crunch of pretzels perfectly complements the sweet creaminess of candy melts, creating a highly addictive snack.
- Effortlessly Easy: No baking required! This recipe is straightforward, making it accessible for cooks of all skill levels.
- Crowd-Pleasing: Sweet and salty snacks are universally loved, ensuring these pretzels will be a hit with both kids and adults at any gathering.
- Versatile for Any Occasion: While perfect for game day, they’re also fantastic for school events, birthday parties for a Packers fan, or as a thoughtful homemade gift.

For these Green Bay Packers Pretzels, we love using a mix of pretzel shapes to add visual interest and variety. Both classic mini twists and the slightly larger pretzel thins work wonderfully, providing different textures and surfaces for the candy coating. You can certainly stick to just one size if you prefer, but the combination adds an extra touch of gourmet appeal to your game day spread.
Gather Your Ingredients
Making these vibrant, team-themed pretzels requires just a few simple ingredients, primarily pretzels and candy melts in the appropriate team colors. Sourcing high-quality ingredients will ensure the best flavor and appearance for your finished treats. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Rold Gold Pretzels – Thins: These offer a slightly flatter surface, great for a generous candy coating and a crisp bite.
- Rold Gold Pretzels – Tiny Twists: The classic pretzel shape provides an excellent base for dipping, with their nooks and crannies holding onto the candy beautifully.
- Wilton Candy Melts – Yellow: This will be your vibrant “gold” for the Packers’ official team colors.
- Wilton Candy Melts – Green: A foundational green for your team’s primary color.
- Wilton Candy Melts – Vibrant Green: Mixing two shades of green can add depth and richness to your treats, though a single green works too.
- Wilton Candy Melts – Bright White: The crisp white completes the iconic Packers color scheme.
Essential Equipment
Having the right tools on hand will make the pretzel-making process smooth and enjoyable. You likely have most of these items in your kitchen already:
- Parchment Paper or Wax Paper: Absolutely crucial for lining your baking sheets, preventing the coated pretzels from sticking, and ensuring easy cleanup.
- Microwave-Safe Bowls: For melting the candy melts efficiently and safely.
- Spoons or Forks: Ideal for dipping and coating the pretzels without making a mess.
- Ziploc Bags (Small): Essential for creating precise drizzles of candy melt decoration. Sandwich-sized bags work well.
- Scissors: For snipping the very tip off the Ziploc bags to create a fine piping hole.
- Baking Sheets: To hold the parchment-lined paper and coated pretzels as they dry and set.

Crafting Your Packers Pretzels: Step-by-Step Guide
Let’s dive into the fun part: bringing these Green Bay Packers Pretzels to life! The process is essentially the same for each color, ensuring consistency and ease. We recommend creating 18 pretzels of each color (green, white, and gold) for a total of 54 festive treats, using approximately one-third regular-sized pretzels and two-thirds mini pretzels to achieve a varied display.
Step 1: Preparing Your Green Pretzels
Begin with the vibrant green portion of your Packers pretzels. You’ll need a mix of Wilton Green and Vibrant Green Candy Melts to achieve a rich, appealing color. Using approximately 25 of each shade (totaling 50 candy melts) for covering 18 pretzels typically yields perfect results. If you prefer a single green, simply use 50 of your chosen green candy melts.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. This non-stick surface is vital for the pretzels to dry without sticking.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine your 50 green candy melts. Microwave them in short intervals to prevent burning. Start with 40 seconds, stir thoroughly, then continue microwaving in 10-second bursts, stirring after each, until the candy melts are completely smooth and fluid. The consistency should be easy to dip.
- Carefully take one pretzel and immerse it into the melted green candy. Use a fork to gently turn the pretzel, ensuring it’s evenly coated on all sides. Allow any excess candy to drip off back into the bowl.
- Transfer the fully coated pretzel to your parchment-lined baking sheet. Repeat this process until all 18 green pretzels are dipped.
- To add an extra decorative flourish, prepare your green drizzle. Place 8 Wilton Green Candy Melts and 8 Vibrant Green Candy Melts (total 16) into a small Ziploc bag. Melt these in the microwave in short bursts, kneading the bag between intervals until smooth.
- Once melted, snip a tiny corner off the Ziploc bag with scissors. The key is a very small opening to allow for maximum control over your drizzle.
- Drizzle the melted green candy over your still-wet or partially set green pretzels in desired patterns. This adds texture and visual appeal.
- Allow the green pretzels to set completely. This can take about 15-20 minutes at room temperature, or you can speed up the process by placing the baking sheet in the refrigerator for 5-10 minutes. Once hardened, you can gently clean up any stray drizzle from the edges with your fingers if desired.

Step 2: Crafting Your White Pretzels
Next, we move on to the pristine white layer of your Green Bay Packers pretzels. The process mirrors the green ones, ensuring a consistent and uniform look across your entire batch.
- Line another clean baking sheet with fresh parchment paper, or reuse the previous one if the green pretzels are fully set and removed.
- In a separate microwave-safe bowl, melt 50 Wilton Bright White Candy Melts. Follow the same microwave instructions as before: start with 40 seconds, stir, then continue in 10-second increments, stirring until perfectly smooth and creamy.
- Dip 18 pretzels into the melted white candy, ensuring full coverage, and place them on the parchment-lined sheet to dry.
- For the white drizzle, melt approximately 15 Wilton Bright White Candy Melts in a small Ziploc bag. Snip a tiny corner from the bag.
- Drizzle the melted white candy over your newly dipped white pretzels, creating elegant lines or playful patterns.
- Let the white pretzels set completely at room temperature or in the refrigerator.

Step 3: Creating Your Gold Pretzels
Finally, add the shimmering gold to your collection! The yellow candy melts will transform into a brilliant gold hue, completing the iconic Packers color scheme.
- Prepare another baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a clean microwave-safe bowl, melt 50 Wilton Yellow Candy Melts following the same careful microwave instructions as detailed for the green and white candy melts. Stir until smooth and free of lumps.
- Dip the remaining 18 pretzels into the melted yellow candy, coating them evenly, and transfer them to the parchment paper to set.
- For the golden drizzle, melt about 15 Wilton Yellow Candy Melts in a small Ziploc bag. Snip a tiny corner from the bag.
- Drizzle the melted yellow candy over your freshly dipped yellow pretzels, adding a final decorative touch.
- Allow the gold pretzels to harden fully.

Expert Tips for Perfect Pretzels Every Time
Achieving pretzel perfection is easy with a few insider tips:
- Melting Safely: Always microwave candy melts in short increments and stir frequently. Overheating can cause them to seize and become clumpy. If your candy melts seem too thick, add a tiny bit of vegetable shortening (like Crisco) or paramount crystals, one teaspoon at a time, until desired consistency is reached.
- Dipping Technique: Use a fork to dip the pretzels. This allows excess candy to drain through the tines, preventing thick, clumpy coatings and making for a cleaner finish. Gently tap the fork against the edge of the bowl to remove extra candy.
- Parchment is Your Friend: Do not skip the parchment or wax paper! It ensures your pretzels lift off easily once hardened, preserving their perfect finish.
- Drizzle Control: When cutting the tip off the Ziploc bag for drizzling, start with an extremely tiny snip. You can always make the hole larger, but you can’t make it smaller! This fine hole gives you precision for delicate lines.
- Work in Batches: Especially for larger quantities, work with one color at a time, dipping and drizzling before the candy hardens too much.
- Speed Up Drying: For quick setting, place your baking sheets of pretzels in the refrigerator for 5-10 minutes. Avoid leaving them in for too long, as condensation can sometimes form.
Customization Ideas
While the classic Packers colors are perfect, you can always get creative:
- Sprinkle Power: Before the candy melts harden, sprinkle them with green, gold, and white nonpareils or sanding sugar for extra sparkle and texture.
- Chocolate Drizzle: Instead of candy melt drizzle, use melted dark or white chocolate for a different flavor contrast.
- Other Team Colors: This recipe is easily adaptable! Simply swap out the candy melt colors to represent any NFL team, college team, or even school colors for a personalized touch.
- Flavor Extracts: Add a few drops of food-grade flavor extract (like peppermint or almond) to your melted candy for an extra layer of taste, though ensure it’s oil-based to avoid seizing.

Serving and Storage
Once your Green Bay Packers Pretzels are completely set, they are ready to be devoured! Arrange them creatively on a platter, perhaps alongside other game day favorites, for a stunning visual display. They also make fantastic edible gifts for fellow Packers fans, packaged in clear cellophane bags with a festive ribbon.
For storage, place the hardened pretzels in an airtight container at room temperature. Layer them with parchment paper between layers to prevent sticking. They will stay fresh and delicious for up to 1-2 weeks, though it’s doubtful they’ll last that long once your guests get a taste!

- Wilton Candy Melts – Yellow
- Wilton Candy Melts – Green

Instructions
The Green Bay Packers team colors are Green, White, and Yellow, so you will need to make three separate batches of Pretzels – one for each of the three team colors.
For each color batch, we recommend making 18 pretzels, using approximately 1/3 regular-sized pretzels and 2/3 mini pretzels for a varied presentation.
- Place 50 Candy Melts of your chosen color on a piece of parchment paper or in a microwave-safe bowl and melt them in the microwave. (Start with 40 seconds, stir them thoroughly, and then microwave again in 10-second increments, stirring after each, until the candy melts are fully melted and smooth. )
- Carefully place a pretzel in the melted candy mixture and use a fork to fully cover the pretzel. Allow any excess candy to drip back into the bowl.
- When the pretzel is completely covered, place the candy-covered pretzel on a piece of wax or parchment paper to dry. Repeat for all pretzels of that color.
- Melt 15 additional Candy Melts of the same color in a small Ziploc bag.
- Once melted, snip a very tiny tip off the corner of the Ziploc bag and drizzle the melted candy over the dipped pretzels for decoration.
- Once the drizzle has hardened, you can gently clean up any stray drizzle on the outside and inside of the pretzels with your fingers for a neater finish.
Repeat this entire process for all three colors of pretzels (Green, White, and Yellow/Gold) to create your full batch of Green Bay Packers Pretzels.
